Tax Exempt Organizations (TX-386)
This course will primarily focus on the federal tax aspects of tax-exempt organizations recognized under 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code. The course will cover the treatment of charities and other nonprofit organizations, including private foundations, churches, hospitals, trade associations, social clubs, and political organizations under the federal income tax law. Coverage will include a study of Illinois state and local tax laws and charitable trust and solicitation regulations. Students will integrate federal and state laws to learn about the essential functions of Illinois nonprofit organizations and their work with employees.
