Global Investment Law (JD-741)
The course focuses upon federal and state efforts to monitor and regulate foreign direct investment (FDI) in US corporations, industry assets, and real property, and on foreign national regulations of, and limitations on, overseas foreign investment made by U.S. entities. This course will cover an overview on central topics of international investment law from historical and evolutionary aspects leading into modern theories as the basis for applied practical approaches for making investments. The course will analyze and outline why and how Foreign Direct Investment, and increasingly Foreign Portfolio Investment, are both becoming vital in combination for improving the efficacy and overall objectives along with specific purposes of international investment treaties.
