Illinois Evidence (JD-540)
The purpose of Illinois Evidence is to acquaint students with the newly enacted Illinois Rules of Evidence and their application to trial practice in Illinois courts. Evidentiary foundations, hearsay, character evidence, and impeachment are among the topics discussed throughout the course. Cases that interpret the new Illinois Rules are analyzed as those decisions are released. Particular emphasis is placed on the practical distinctions and similarities between the Federal Rules of Evidence and the new Illinois Rules.
