Patent Law Statutory & Regulatory Fundamentals (JD-199)
The course is designed for a person interested in the fundamentals of patent law and, particularly, in representing clients before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The course will track a patent application for an invention from the moment of conception through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The principal laws are covered along with an extensive focus on the legal characterization of "prior art." The course will provide in depth coverage of Title 35 USC, the Manual of Patent Examining Procedures, and the Code of Federal Regulations as it relates to patent practice. Claim drafting is also introduced and practiced.
